Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center features comedic magic show

September 3, 2013 - The Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center will host  a special theater fundraising performance of the "Comedy and Magic of Harry Maurer" at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at 2501 S. Mason Road, Suite 290.

The event provides comedy and magic suitable for the entire family, said executive artistic director Gregory Magyar, with proceeds directly supporting arts education programming at the center.

"We are always excited about an event that is all about artists helping artists," Magyar said. "Harry saw a production in our theater and approached us about doing a fundraiser because he thought our venue would be a perfect home for his act. He offers a family-friendly show with 'clean' comedy and amazing magic tricks to please all ages."

Tickets are $25 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. Advance tickets are available on the center website at http://kvpac.org.

Tickets, if still available, may also be purchased at the arts center box office on the afternoon of the performance.

Founded in 2001 by a group of local artists, the Katy center is a nonprofit arts education organization dedicated to bringing quality performing and visual arts to the Katy community, Magyar said. Last year, the center's community outreach programs and events served approximately 28,000 community members.

"The arts center is always delighted to host other artists and entertainers," Magyar said. "While our focus is on theatrical production, hosting comedy and magic reaches out to even more people in our community and reinforces our belief that the theater offers something for everyone."

The center is also hard at work planning one of its most popular special events, the annual Masquerade Ball, which is scheduled for 6:30-10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17.

For more information or to purchase tickets for Maurer's show, call the center at 281-829-2787, or email info@kvpac.org. You can also connect with the center on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
